Briefing on the Department of English Language and Literature
The Department of English Language and Literature was established in 2009 to provide the local marketplace with qualified cadres in English. The Department offers courses of English Communication Skills to students in other faculties. During the academic year, the Department holds activities that aim at strengthening students' communication with other cultures, developing their communication skills, and enhancing their self-confidence linguistically and culturally.
The goals of the Department is to expose students to classes that foster critical thinking and problem solving and to develop their research skills.
The Department of English offers the following programs: B.A in English Language and Literature; B.A. in Applied English; and B.A in French and English in partnership with the Department of French Language and Literature.
The Department includes three faculty members holding P.h D and four holding M.A degrees. Since its inception, the Department has delegated a number of M.A holders to pursue their postgraduate studies in the fields of literature, translation and linguistics.
